My favorite concert experience was actually my first ever concert. Technically it was a festival, but it was Rolling Loud, a hiphop/rap festival, in 2018. Having no concert experience and going straight to a festival with more than 30 different artists was a little overwhelming; trying to find which stage every artist was performing at, figuring out which time they were performing, and getting a good view from the crowd took time. This was a two-day event that allowed my friends and I to figure out how everything worked.
It was my favorite festival for two reasons, the first one being the people I attended the concert with. I went to this festival with one of my best friends and another close, mutual friend of ours. Although there were only three of us, we had a good time. There may have been some marijuana involved, but that just made our experience better. We also all wanted to see the same artists which was good because we always stayed together. Which leads me to the second reason, the artists. The lineup for 2018 was amazing: there was Future, Young Thug, Post Malone, Rae Sremmurd, 21 Savage, Lil Uzi, Playboi Carti, Migos, and School Boy Q. All of these artists were split between both days and there were also smaller artists that had a chance to make a name for themselves by performing on these stages. At the time, I had a favorite song called “Pick It Up” by Famous Dex and seeing him perform it live was amazing. I was super excited and the performance was good. I also was able to see one of my favorite artists, Young Thug. He played all of the songs that I like from him which made his performance my favorite.
Everyone who I interacted with at the concert was super nice and wanted everyone to have a good time. We were talking to people, making friends, and overall having fun with strangers. There were occasional moshpits based on the performer. For example, there was a moshpit for Playboi Carti, but when Post Malone performed, everyone was calm and listened to him sing. Overall, it was a great time and a great experience. I got to see my favorite performers with some of my closest friends; it was a great weekend.
