Yes, while others love Little Mermaid—I do too, don’t get me wrong—but there was a scene that infuriated me. It had me yelling at the television screen in hopes that the character can hear and listen to me. The summary of this movie is that King Triton, Ariel’s father, or the entire mermaid folk used to dance and sing music, however, when his wife was killed, grief struck the entire kingdom and the King Triton banned music. So, in this movie, we meet Ariel’s mother, we get to see the tragedy of her mother’s death, a death that could have been prevented, I might add. In the beginning of the movie, mermaids were swimming and relaxing, including the Triton family, until a boat was heading in their direction. The mermaids swam away, but Ariel’s mother, Queen Athena, just sat there with a horror-stricken face. She literally had time to move and swim away. The scene kept going back to her horrified face and the boat that was still very far away. Like… Girl, you had like a three-minute head start. I swear, the scene was about two minutes of switching between the frightened O-faced and the boat. That scene just infuriated me to the point where I was just done with it which is why it’s one of my least favorite Disney movies.
